The LIRR had delays Wednesday morning on the Montauk Branch due to weather-related signal trouble near Hampton Bays, but they were cleared up before 8 a.m., the railroad said.
In a service advisory about 4:15 a.m., the Long Island Rail Road told riders to expect delays during the morning rush hour in both directions. The railroad reported delays overnight in both directions and said more were expected.
As of 8 a.m., only one train was delayed on the branch, the railroad said.
LIRR maintainers went to the scene for the Hampton Bays issue, the railroad said in the service advisory.
A thunderstorm with torrential rainfall and lightning hit Suffolk County late Tuesday night moving from west to east into early Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service in Upton said. The service issued flood advisories and a severe thunderstorm warning.
