New timetables for various Long Island Rail Road routes will take effect Monday, as part of ongoing track construction work, according to a release from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The adjusted schedules, which vary by one to 30 minutes depending on the line, will effect the Port Washington, Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson, and Far Rockaway branches, in addition to late night service to the Atlantic Terminal.

The construction projects include replacing wooden ties on the Ronkonkoma branch between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma and rail replacement on the Far Rockaway branch between Valley Stream and Far Rockaway.

The Port Washington branch will also restore half-hourly midday service on weekdays during the morning and evening rush hours. Service had been scaled back to hourly service in September 2010 due to budget cuts, according to the MTA's release.

Detailed schedules are available online at www.mta.info/lirr or riders can also call the New York State Travel Information Line at 511 for more information.
