New York State Police are investigating a car crash Monday afternoon that killed a Ronkonkoma woman on the Southern State Parkway in the area of the Robert Moses Causeway South in West Islip, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 2:47 p.m. near Exit 40 South, and resulted in the death of Stephanie T. Malone, 28, the sole occupant of a 2013 Nissan Altima, state police said on their website.

Authorities closed all lanes of the parkway eastbound at Exit 39 for several hours while the left lane of the westbound Southern State was also closed due to the investigation, police said.

The state police are asking any witnesses or anyone else with information to call 631-756-3300.
