Service on the Ronkonkoma Branch of the Long Island Rail Road was restored late Monday after being suspended in both directions east of Farmingdale when a train struck a person on the tracks near the Pinelawn station.

The LIRR announced the restoration of service after 11 p.m. following the suspension at about 9 p.m.
No further information was immediately available on Monday night.
