Federal Aviation Administration officials reported delays ranging from 15 minutes to more than an hour at area airports due to thunderstorms Wednesday evening, according to the agency’s website.

Flights into and out of LaGuardia, MacArthur, Kennedy and Newark airports experienced varying postponements of departures and arrivals when showers — which meteorologists said could include heavy downpours and hail — began moving through the region. Eastbound winds were clocked at 40 mph amid temperatures in the low 40s.
