Water conditions favorable until early Friday
High pressure building over Long Island and areas east generates mostly favorable water conditions Thursday and into early Friday, the National Weather Service said in its marine forecast.
The service's Upton office said there is low potential for marginal wind gusts beginning late Friday afternoon over South Shore waters between Sandy Hook, New Jersey and Fire Island.
Non-ocean waters can expect "sub small craft advisory conditions Friday night through Wednesday," the service said.
An increasing southwesterly flow will build waves to heights of 4 to 6 feet Sunday morning.
Inland weather conditions for Thursday on Long Island are sunny skies with near 70-degree temperatures across Nassau and Suffolk counties.
