Two people were injured when a sport utility vehicle flipped near Exit 17 of the Southern State Parkway in Malverne, New York State police said.

Neither of the injured people - who were not identified by police - suffered life-threatening injuries, said Trooper Glenn Rodriguez. The SUV flipped in the westbound lane at 9:22 a.m. on Sunday, he said.

One of the injured was transferred to Nassau University Medical Center while the other was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital, Rodriguez said. The cause of the accident has not been determined, he said.

It is unclear if criminal charges could stem from the accident, Rodriguez said.

The accident scene was cleared by 12:10 p.m., Rodriguez said.
