Two seriously hurt in Melville crash

Suffolk County police are investigating an early morning single-car crash in Melville Friday that injured four people, two seriously, Second Squad detectives said.

Jacqueline DiPalma, 27, of Bay Shore, was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima south on Route 110 between Fletcher Place and the Northern State Parkway at about 3:16 a.m. when she apparently lost control and rammed a utility pole, police said.

DiPalma and her three passengers had to be removed from the car by rescue workers using hydraulic cutting tools, a spokesman for the Melville Fire Department said

DiPalma was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where she was listed in serious condition. Jessica Fine, 21, of Lindenhurst, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center where she was listed in serious condition.

Jessica McGirt, 22, of Wyandanch, also was taken to Nassau University Medical Center. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Trevor Madison, 22, also of Wyandanch, was taken to Huntington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information should call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.

The Melville Fire Department responded with 30 volunteer firefighters and emergency medical services personnel, as well as a heavy rescue truck, two engines and three ambulances.

Personnel from Dix Hills and Huntington Manor also were on the scene.
