Long Island weather: Expect seasonal highs in low 40s, lows in upper 20s

After weeks characterized by record warm temperatures, Long Island weather is back to the seasonal norm, if only for a few days.
Highs on Saturday will reach the lower 40s with overnight lows into the upper 20s, said Jay Engle, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Upton office.
That’s about average for this time of year, but it could feel even colder with the wind chill, he said.
“It’s going to feel about 10 to 15 degrees colder with the wind,” Engle said. “It’s been so warm, it’s going to feel like a shock.”
Less wind is expected Sunday, which will see seasonal highs in the mid 40s and lows in the low 30s overnight into Monday.
Engle said there is a slight chance of flurries or a small snow shower, though most precipitation has stayed north and west of the Island.
After Sunday, however, temperatures will start to warm again, with highs into the holiday week expected in the 50-degree range.
