W. Babylon bicyclist killed by minivan
A West Babylon man died early Saturday from injuries suffered when the bicycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a minivan Friday night, Suffolk County police said.
Vicdan Turan, 51, died at 1:50 a.m. at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Islip, police said.
Turan was riding across Straight Path near 10th Street as DianeMarie Shepherd drove the minivan south on Straight Path in West Babylon.
The minivan hit the bicycle about 9:05 p.m., police said.
The West Babylon Fire Department transported Turan to Good Samaritan Medical Center, where he was admitted in critical condition, police said.
Shepherd, 41, of West Babylon, was not injured. Police impounded the minivan for a safety check and the investigation is continuing, police said.
