Wanted: Bank robbery; purse snatching

Nassau police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for a man who allegedly robbed a Hicksville bank.

According to police, at 5:55 p.m. on Oct. 2 the suspect entered the People's United Bank at 404 S. Oyster Bay Rd. and demanded money from a teller. He had the teller put the money in a yellow padded envelope, police said.

The suspect is described as being 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-9, with a thin build. He was wearing a royal blue track suit, a black wool hat, silver-framed aviator glasses with reflective lenses, and was carrying a cellphone when he walked into the bank.

Suffolk police and its Crime Stopper department are looking for a woman who allegedly took another person's pocketbook at a Setauket store.

Police say that at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 the suspect took the handbag off a counter at the photo kiosk in the Walmart at 3990 Nesconset Hwy. She then left the store and got into an older green car, possibly a Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable, said police.

The suspect is described as about 5-foot-4, with a thin build, with brown hair tied back. She was wearing surgical scrubs with a light blue printed pattern.
