Firefighters battle major blaze in West Babylon

Firefighters from 12 Suffolk County departments were battling a major blaze at a home on a dead-end street in West Babylon early Thursday, authorities said.
The fire at the house on Albany Avenue was reported in a 911 call at 5:49 a.m.
The home is on a street in a triangular residential section east of Mount Avenue, south of Wyandanch Avenue and west of Belmont Avenue and Belmont Lake State Park.

One firefighter was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with burns and one resident was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital for smoke inhalation, police said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but appears non-criminal, Suffolk police said.
No further information was immediately available.
