Suffolk County police arrested a West Islip woman late Saturday for driving while intoxicated with two kids in the car.

According to police, Frances Fannon, 48, of 149 Second St., was driving a 1997 Hyundai when she was pulled over for a traffic infraction on Seventh Street near Oak Neck Road in West Islip at about 11:30 p.m. After interviewing Fannon, an officer determined that she was intoxicated and arrested her, police said.

Fannon's two passengers, her 13-year-old daughter and the daughter's 12-year-old friend, were unharmed, police said.

Under the recently enacted Leandra's Law, Fannon was charged with a felony count of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a passenger 15 years old or younger. She was also charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated, police said.

Fannon was arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Central Islip.
