Wet Christmas in store for LI?
What's ahead weatherwise for Christmas Day?
It's still a little too early to tell, but forecasters say Sunday morning may be wet, with a slight chance of a rain-snow mix.
Look for highs in the mid- to upper 40s, says Lauren Nash, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, based at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton.
Long Islanders woke up Monday to temperatures in the teens, but Tuesday morning promises to be a little warmer, with the temperature heading up to the mid- to upper 30s, says Nash.
As for precipitation, don't look for any until Wednesday, when light-to-moderate rain, possibly less than half an inch, is expected to hit the area, tapering off late Wednesday night and Thursday morning, she says. Highs on Wednesday are expected to be in the low 50s.
