A Deer Park man was arrested on DWI charges after a chase on the Southern State Parkway early Saturday morning, Nassau County police said.

Police began following a gold 2007 Cadillac wanted in Suffolk County after it was spotted on the Southern State Parkway about 5:15 a.m. near Exit 19 in Hempstead, police said.

The car was missing a tire and had no headlights or taillights on, police said. Officers followed the car as it sped recklessly until breaking down on the Belt Parkway in Laurelton, Queens, police said.

The driver and a woman passenger ran from the car, but were detained nearby by New York State Police. The woman was released without charges.

Police arrested the driver, Winston D. Treasure, who officers said resisted arrest, punching and kicking officers and refusing to follow orders. He was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, three counts of DWI, three counts of aggravated driving without a license, two counts of marijuana possession, resisting arrest and multiple traffic violations.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday morning in First District Court in Hempstead.
