Winter weather advisory extended into Sunday for Suffolk

The National Weather Service extended its winter weather advisory for Suffolk County into Sunday, as snow and wind are expected to sweep across parts of Long Island tonight.
The advisory is now in effect for western Suffolk until 6 a.m., and for eastern Suffolk until noon. Total snow accumulations were expected to be 2 to 5 inches for western Suffolk, with up to 8 inches in eastern Suffolk.

According to the weather service, northwest winds are expected to increase across eastern Suffolk County, resulting in areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility. The advisory added that a warning may be issued later today, depending on the evolution of the storm.
