A Lindenhurst woman was arrested Friday after Garden City police said she stole jewelry from the home where she worked.

Police said Sara E. Cruz, 25, worked from Aug. 1 through Aug. 29 as a home health aide for a 73-year-old woman in Garden City.

While she was there, police said, Cruz stole about $81,750 worth of jewelry from the woman's St. Pauls Place home.

Cruz was arrested in Lindenhurst and charged with second-degree grand larceny.

At her arraignment Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead, Cruz was ordered held on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond, according to court records. She is due back in court Wednesday.

Police said anyone who thinks he or she might have been a victim of Cruz should call Garden City police at 516-465-4109.
