Nassau police at the scene Friday where a Westbury woman was struck and killed by an apparent hit-and-run driver, authorities said. Credit: John Scalesi

Nassau police have identified a woman who was struck and killed in Hicksville in an apparent hit and run as Nayi Harsida, 43, of Westbury.

Police said they responded at 5:18 p.m. Friday to reports of a woman lying in the eastbound lane of Stewart Avenue, east of the Levittown Parkway. The victim, who police identified Monday as Harsida, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the vehicle that hit the woman drove off but additional information about the make and model was not available.

Detectives ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
