Nassau police have issued an alert for a woman with "diminished mental capacity" who went missing in Uniondale earlier Sunday.

At about 1:30 p.m., police said Cynthia Sheik, 30, left her uncle's house on Stanton Boulevard in a red SUV that went eastbound on Stanton to points unknown.

Sheik, who police said was visiting from Florida, is white, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and has blonde hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen, police said, in blue jeans, a white shirt with a gray stripe and a gray scarf.

Anybody with information is asked to call 800-244-TIPS.
