No need for New York football fans to wait much longer for Sunday's big event: The kickoff is 6:30 p.m.

For one day, put aside the mayhem, madness and mendacity in the news -- and we don't just mean the 2012 presidential campaign. The most compelling contest for today is the race to Indianapolis. Better still, this one takes a few hours and you can enthusiastically root without getting into a polarizing argument with your friends. And, at the risk of jumping the gun, Gov. Chris Christie, a Jets fan by the way, should stop looking for a parade route in New Jersey. (Hey, he brought it up first, so no jinx here.)

They're still called the New York Giants, and after the team wins the Super Bowl on Feb. 5, the Meadowlands can do a warm-up celebration.

But Big Blue's parade will be in the Big Apple.
