A SUNY-Peace Corps partnership

SUNY has found a way to help community service-minded students combine altruism with international academic achievement. SUNY is inaugurating the nation's first partnership between a state university system and the Masters International program run by the Peace Corps. Those accepted by both the Peace Corps and a SUNY graduate program begin their studies on campus, go overseas in the Peace Corps for two years, and then return to the university to finish their degree. Preferred fields include health, agriculture, education, environment and youth development. SUNY sees the program adding an international component to its 28 campuses with graduate programs, including Stony Brook and Old Westbury. It's a new opportunity for students to enhance their world view and education -- and to make a difference.
