Biden signals support for gay marriage

Joe Biden gave same sex marriage an unexpected boost Sunday.

The Vice President told a national television audience he is “absolutely comfortable” with gay marriage and is heartened by its growing public acceptance.

Biden is famous for foot in mouth disease so you had to wonder if he was just off the farm again. But one day later when Education Secretary Arne Duncan gave clear voice to his support for same sex marriage it begged the question; Has President Barack Obama’s famously evolving view moved to the point of acceptance and maybe even advocacy?

The White House said no and ostensibly still supports civil unions instead.

But if this is the trial balloon it so obviously appears to be, Obama should drop the dance and just come out for legalizing same sex marriage.

It’s the right thing to do, and the public shouldn’t have to wait until after the votes are counted in November to find out if that’s what he believes too.
