Suspend drunk drivers indefinitely

A police officer was seriously injured by a driver who is alleged to have had several drinks [“Driver who hit cop had many drinks, ADA says,” News, Jan. 3.]
This is more than intolerable.
What excuse does Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo have for not permanently banning DWI drivers from ever getting behind the wheel again? I would ask the same question of President Donald Trump.
