That's the increase in votes cast for non-major- party candidates in this year's New York gubernatorial election, compared with 2006. Nearly 200,000 people supported a candidate other than the Republican or Democratic nominees. Individually, none of these candidates got much support, but taken together their vote total represents a significant - and growing - discontent with the status quo.
