Editorial: Score card - 3,120
This is the busiest day of the holiday travel period at Long Island MacArthur Airport, and 3,120 is the number of passengers booked today on Southwest, its major carrier - compared to 3,166 on the Sunday after Christmas a year ago. There's been a decline in the past few years, as Southwest has trimmed flights. In 2009, 250 flights came in and out during the peak Christmas-New Year's rush, carrying 29,497 passengers. This year, with 17 fewer flights, the load is projected to be 27,536.
