Editorial: Please retrieve your signs

The 2018 elections engaged Long Islanders and produced record turnout for scores of public offices. Thanks to everyone who voted and participated in this most fundamental and essential process of our democracy.
Now we get a break. The campaign ads are off television and gone from social media and mailboxes. But the campaign signs are still there in every combination of red, white and blue along roads, traffic medians and fences. So to the winners and losers, a plea: Complete your civic duty and take down the signs ASAP.— The editorial board
