$400,000:
That's how much federal funding the Town of Babylon was set to lose toward redevelopment of a park that is part of its Wyandanch revitalization.
The town got $700,000 for work at Geiger Lake Memorial Park, but the firm that won the contract for electrical and carpentry work dropped out recently. With the project facing a Dec. 31 deadline for completion, Sen. Chuck Schumer requested and won an extension to June 30. Good for him. A technicality should not have derailed the project.
