One of the nation's premier suburbs, Nassau County faces the challenge of maintaining services while keeping it affordable. The property tax assessment system is still broken, while major economic development remains elusive after deals collapsed for a casino resort at the Nassau Hub and a new NYU Langone hospital on the community college campus. As a result, the county is spending more of its rainy day funds for operating expenses. Meanwhile, almost $100 million in a dedicated fund awarded to the county for addiction and mental health services goes unused.

Republican incumbent Bruce A. Blakeman is being challenged by Democratic freshman Legis. Seth I. Koslow.
