When I stroll on the Jones Beach boardwalk, where I’ve walked for more years than I can remember, I get an instant surge of pleasure when I approach the Central Mall. Gone is the plywood wall that surrounded a waterlogged pit proposed to be the site of Donald Trump’s catering hall, a monument to his ego.

It’s now a level piece of beach that’s beautiful to behold. Many fought the idea of a catering hall at the beach. But we couldn’t overcome The Donald’s money and political clout.

But superstorm Sandy did what we couldn’t do. It washed Trump out of our hair.
