Letter: Consider residents near MacArthur

In several recent editorials and reports, Newsday appears to favor the expansion of Long Island MacArthur airport.
The push to add more airlines or flights leaves out a major consideration: The impact on the quality of life of nearby residents who have to deal with the airplanes’ noise.
I live in the direct path of a runway. Planes take off and land more often than I and others would like, sometimes before 6 a.m. and, at times, long after 11 p.m. There should be a 11 p.m.-to-6 a.m. curfew.
Expansion of MacArthur also means more noise and lower quality of life for many Long Islanders. Why hasn’t Newsday written more about this other side?
