Musings: What's up with Nassau pool in Manhasset?

I have been a resident of Nassau County for most of my life. I currently live in Manhasset, almost directly across from Christopher Morley Park. Its swimming pool, which opened in 1961, has been closed since 2023. A sign says it is closed for construction, but I have never seen a single construction vehicle or worker there.
This public, and I emphasize the word “public,” pool had always been a valuable resource for Nassau County residents. Several school districts used it as part of their summer recreation programs.
Those who tend to use the park are likely people who have no other options to get relief from summer heat. I contacted Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s office but received only vague responses such as it’s expensive and the job is being put out for bids in the fall. I know the wheels of government turn slowly, but three summers without progress seems pretty slow.
I am frustrated with the lack of clear communication about this situation.
