Continue probe of Russian meddling

I read with disbelief the reactions of Reps. Peter King and Lee Zeldin to the Mueller investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 elections [“Trump takes a direct dig,” News, March 19].
King said he doesn’t see evidence of collusion but admits that Mueller may have additional information. King wants “some sort of time frame for when he [special counsel Robert Mueller] expects this investigation to end,” and Zeldin states it “cannot go on indefinitely.”
They both seem to have short memories. The investigation into President Bill Clinton’s involvement into a failed business venture in the 1970s and 1980s by special counsel Kenneth Starr began in August 1994, expanded, and he submitted his report to the House of Representatives in September 1998 — more than four years later. King was a member of Congress that entire time.
Then there was the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s involvement in the Benghazi attack in Libya. The FBI opened an investigation in September 2012, and a House committee finalized its report in July 2016.
Now, when there is evidence of another nation, Russia, an adversary for decades, doing its best to influence the outcome of our democratic election, two of our representatives in Congress are growing tired after just one year.

I find it disgusting that Rep. Lee Zeldin said the Robert Mueller investigation should come to an end.
The investigation isn’t fruitless. Four people closely associated with President Donald Trump have been indicted because of Mueller’s investigation. This includes Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, and the charges against him include conspiracy.
If Trump has nothing to hide, he should have no problem with this investigation. Zeldin has no respect for due process. He is engaging in tribal politics on the side of our president.
