On Long Island, making a right turn on a red traffic light is usually OK, but try that around the country and there's a good chance you'll see flashing blue lights. Credit: iStock

Fix the drivers, not the intersection

What is it with more stoplights [“Renewed call for stoplight on deadly roadway,” News, Feb. 21]?

The intersection of Roslyn Road and Locust Lane in Roslyn is a deadly roadway? There are four lanes, good visibility and a 30-mph speed limit. Because so many people are lousy drivers, the rest of us have to put up with even more stoplights?

The only thing that will make our roads safer is better driver education and better drivers. Reducing Roslyn Road to one lane to supposedly make it safer is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
