Letters: Not clear on candidates' values

Newsday's editorial, "Got a gripe? Get out and vote" [Nov. 3], hit a nerve. While I consistently vote, I question whether it means anything.
The major and minor parties cross-endorsing candidates sometimes makes my vote useless. Also, I can't vote for someone whose ideals don't match my own. I believe too many people, and especially younger voters, feel this way as well.
We have the best democracy in the world, but supporting it in the polling booth is very difficult. It too often seems that too many politicians have only one thing in mind: winning the next election and the patronage that goes with it. The constituents be damned.
Keep up the good work of exposing the questionable acts of our politicians and their friends.

Maybe the reason Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray lost the election for Nassau district attorney was that she didn't have enough signs!
By the way, who is planning to take down the million-plus "Murray" signs plastered all over the place?
