Long Island is officially besieged by landscapers. Spring's arrival loses some of its luster when compromised by the incessant droning of leaf blowers.
On a recent weekend morning, I was roused from sleep by a chorus of noise and the stink of exhaust. I predict that one day, shortly, we will all pay the price for these terrible instruments, when a full understanding of their impact on our health becomes known.
Just a few years ago, everybody favored rakes.
