Letter: Bernie Sanders should shift focus

Regarding “Sanders: Fight till end” [News, May 30, 2016], Sen. Bernie Sanders has had a rather undistinguished career in the House of Representatives and the Senate since 1991. Yet he has garnered a great deal of support in his campaign for the presidency.
One thing that’s in short supply in his campaign is an acceptance of the reality that is quite clear to most people: Like it or not, Hillary Clinton has an insurmountable lead in the delegate count, and she will be the nominee of the Democratic party. Yet, Sanders continues to talk about winning, even if that can only be accomplished by trying to flip superdelegates.
I wonder why he does not focus on the support he has built and how it could help him implement the policies he espouses. This campaign might now be more about Sanders and his ego, and less about his beliefs. He ought to turn his focus back to the policies and accept what he cannot change.
