Columnist Michael Dobie asks a very important question: “If you don’t vote Nov. 6, when will you?” [“Now it really is up to the voters,” column, Oct. 28].

Americans want partisan pettiness to stop, and they want more discussion about real issues. But we want better candidates on the ballot. Why bother to vote if nothing is different? Year after year, the same people appear, or new people who promise many things but never offer real solutions.

Both parties have to introduce better crops of candidates. We want people who will be intelligent, respectful and open-minded. All positions should have term limits so that people in office don’t become complacent. That’ll inspire people to vote!
