Letter: Blame Olympic committee for Russia

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) has suggested that Olympic athletes march in opposition to Russia's anti-gay practices by carrying a multicolored flag at the opening ceremony this February in Sochi. While there is no doubt that Russia's policies are wrong and shameful, should the multicolor flag replace the American flag for our athletes?
We should hold the International Olympic Committee responsible for choosing Russia and embarrassing the tradition of the Games.
