Letter: Bust those who employ immigrants here illegally

Immigration: Prosecute outlaw employers, too
In all the talk about building a wall and deporting millions of immigrants here illegally, I haven’t heard any politician speak about prosecuting American employers who break the law by hiring these immigrants [“LI backers turn out for Trump,” News, April 7].
U.S. businesses that ignore the law by hiring people who have no legal right to work in the United States are rarely prosecuted. These businesses benefit greatly, taking advantage of immigrants by paying low wages, providing no benefits and ignoring worker rights.
Immigrants come to the United States illegally or overstay their visas because they know they can find work. Many work in the restaurant, construction and health care industries.
If immigrants should obey the law, shouldn’t employers also?
