Letter: Can't science save our pine trees?
I'm profoundly sad that the battle against the southern pine beetle must include the cutting down of thousands of healthy trees ["Don't overdo tree cutting to stop the pine beetle," Editorial, Oct. 14].
There are poisons to kill people, ants, roaches, mosquitoes, etc. Why can't one of our genius researchers come up with a poison for those little beetles, instead of killing our beautiful trees?
