What a privilege it is to have the freedom to vote for the candidates of our choice ["Tough talkers," News, Oct. 23]. Free, too, are the candidates for public office to express their views on issues that concern our lives.

It's important for voters to choose candidates who exhibit the virtue of truthfulness, which consists of showing oneself true in deeds, truthful in words, and on guard against duplicity, dissimulation and hypocrisy.

May we all take advantage of this privilege to vote for the men and women of our choice on Nov. 4.
