Letter: Climate change is the reason to back solar

Your story “Solar’s burning question” [News, Dec. 27] really burned me up.
The primary focus of installing sustainable energy is to alleviate man-made global climate change. Yes, it would be great if long-term jobs resulted from solar power, or if municipalities were able to obtain needed money to offset additional taxation of their citizens. However, these goals are not the main reasons for encouraging these projects.
The fact that solar companies get tax breaks and other incentives does not mean that this process is not worthwhile.
