Letter: Comics lighten even dark moments

We mourn those who made us laugh -- Joan Rivers, Robin Williams and David Brenner ["Broadway League OKs Rivers honor," News, Sept. 10].
Their astute observations and juxtapositions of strange scenarios turned into welcome silliness. They showed that in nearly all situations, a laugh can be found.
Laughter is a universal language and an affirming bridge. Whatever you are going through, laughter can be a moment's reprieve. Making others laugh is a high calling.
We remember our comedic icons with a shade of sadness, but also with a light of appreciation because they enriched our world.
