Letter: Cost of educating immigrants?

Newsday ran a very compelling story about young Marlon Velásquez’s fight to get a free education [“Accused of turning him away,” News, Sept. 2].
He even has an immigration lawyer to help him. The article says that Long Island ranks among the top resettlement areas nationwide for unaccompanied minors entering this country — apparently, like this young man, many of them illegally.
Will Newsday run another article outlining the costs in our two counties of providing the free benefits?
