Letter: Crash passengers should not have dithered in Dubai
Video from inside an Emirates airliner that crash-landed in Dubai shows many passengers going for their carry-on baggage, clogging aisles and slowing the evacuation [“Hundreds escape plane accident in Dubai,” News, Aug. 4].
There was very little time before the plane exploded in flames, and it was only luck that no one died because of people trying to rescue their belongings.
This kind of selfishness can be eliminated by having electronically controlled locks on overhead bins that would open only after a plane has reached the terminal.
