Letter: Cuomo right to use a heavy hand

Regarding "The state of his empire" [News, Feb. 15], although I don't agree with Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo legalizing same-sex marriage (big mistake), his expansion of powers and efforts to consolidate power in his executive office are long overdue.
Maybe the people of New York State can now begin to see efficiencies in government. Yes, power grabs sometimes are necessary -- and now is one of those times.
That said, the people of the state still demand transparency, accountability and legislative oversight.
