Former State Sen. Dean Skelos was unable to resist helping his son illegally because his infertility made him do it [“Pleading for ‘mercy,’ ” News, March 24]. This is a pathetic explanation.

Skelos could have used what his attorney calls his “unique talents” in legal ways to help his child. His excuses are truly an embarrassment to the constituents he represented.
