Letter: Did Nassau police bosses know?

How and why was this incident involving Nassau County Police Officer Mike Tedesco allowed to happen? ["Nassau PD sex inquiry," News, May 4]. Where were his superiors, and why weren't they monitoring his dispatch calls over the seven months when he allegedly visited a woman's home 57 times, at least sometimes while on duty?
Was it not so very obvious that something was amiss? What of his fellow officers? This must have added to their workloads, and did they report what was happening to their supervisors?
So, now his reward is that he is able to retain his pension? Wasn't this once referred to as theft of service? Is this not a criminal offense?
Aside from the investigation by the police department's Internal Affairs Unit, District Attorney Kathleen Rice should become involved in this investigation.
As a taxpayer, I am horrified. We are entitled to some answers and preventive solutions.
