Thanks for the story on the North Hempstead highway superintendent [“Highway chief’s OT at issue,” News, March 14]. It’s heartwarming to see that this abuse is attended by family participation. Of course, the family member who was charged with stealing $98,000 from an agency isn’t quite what one would hold up as something positive, but things can’t be perfect, can they? Got to take the bad with the good, I guess.

Keep up the good work. These revelations of corruption and abuse in Newsday serve the public interest, even if the chances of true reform seem remote.
