On Monday, Long Island Rail Road riders were once again subjected to extensive delays, allegedly due to a problem in the East River tunnels ["Monday's LIRR delays are fifth such problem in 2 months," News, Aug. 19].

What is going on in these tunnels? How can there be so many issues with track space that is enclosed? Is there no maintenance, or is something else causing all these delays? Something or someone is not working! For the fares we pay, riders deserve some accountability.
